Before Hiring an Enterprise Mover
First identify whether your move is local, stays within Alabama, crosses a state line, or is international. The route determines which authority you should verify. Then give each company the same inventory, services, dates, and property-access information so the quotes are genuinely comparable.
Enterprise Movers
Finding a moving company in Enterprise depends on more than the company name or how close its office is to your home.
A mover that works for a same-city move may not be the company you need for a move from Enterprise to another Alabama city, another state, across the country, or overseas.
Use this page to compare companies serving Enterprise, understand which type of mover your route requires, and know what information to verify before requesting or accepting a quote.
Enterprise Neighborhoods, Corridors & Moving Access
Moving conditions can vary across Enterprise, so give movers the exact pickup and delivery addresses instead of simply saying the move is “in Enterprise.”
Downtown Enterprise & Main Street: Downtown includes older commercial buildings, offices, restaurants, shops, apartments, public parking, and streets where curb space can be limited. Confirm where a moving truck may legally stage, whether a rear or service entrance is available, and how far belongings must be carried between the truck and the building.
Boll Weevil Circle: Boll Weevil Circle is one of Enterprise’s major traffic and commercial corridors. Apartments, shopping centers, offices, storage facilities, and businesses along or near the circle can use service roads, shared entrances, busy parking lots, or restricted loading areas. Give the mover the exact entrance and ask whether a large truck can safely enter, turn, and park at the property.
Rucker Boulevard & the east side of Enterprise: Properties along the corridor toward Fort Novosel can include residential communities, apartments, commercial properties, and military-oriented housing. Confirm gates, parking rules, driveway access, stairs, and whether the mover needs to coordinate around commuter traffic or installation access.
Enterprise State Community College area: The college’s main campus is in Enterprise, and nearby apartments or managed housing can have parking rules, stairs, gates, and move-in timing considerations. If your move is tied to the school calendar, confirm property access before booking the crew.
Established neighborhoods and subdivisions: Tell the mover about driveway width and slope, cul-de-sacs, gates, HOA restrictions, low branches, fenced yards, exterior stairs, and whether a full-size truck has enough room to turn around.
Rural and edge-of-city properties: Homes outside the most developed parts of Enterprise can have long driveways, narrow roads, soft shoulders, unpaved approaches, gates, or limited turnaround space. Mention those conditions before the quote is finalized so the company can determine whether a smaller truck or shuttle might be needed.
Commercial and business moves: Offices, retail locations, restaurants, warehouses, medical offices, and other business properties may have loading docks, service entrances, restricted delivery hours, equipment, shelving, files, or other requirements that differ from a household move.
Moving Between Enterprise and Nearby Communities
Many short-distance moves from Enterprise go to nearby Wiregrass communities rather than staying inside the city limits.
Nearby destinations can include New Brockton, Level Plains, Daleville, Ozark, Elba, Dothan, and surrounding areas. Use the exact pickup and delivery city, ZIP code, and street address when requesting a quote because the property may be outside Enterprise even when it is part of the broader local area.
For a short-distance move, tell the company whether either property is an apartment, house, senior community, storage facility, office, warehouse, or managed development; whether stairs or elevators are involved; whether a full-size truck can park close to both entrances; and whether a gate or access code is required.
Fort Novosel moves: Enterprise is closely connected to Fort Novosel-area relocations. If your move involves the installation, confirm base-entry requirements, destination instructions, timing, and any documentation the moving crew or vehicle may need before moving day.
Mileage alone does not determine the legal type of move. Enterprise is in southeast Alabama, so a move into Florida or Georgia becomes interstate as soon as the shipment crosses a state line.
Local, Alabama, Interstate or International Move?
Your search should match where the move is actually going.
Same city or nearby Alabama area: A local move can include another Enterprise address or a nearby Alabama community such as New Brockton, Level Plains, Daleville, or Ozark. Compare companies that handle the property type, access conditions, move size, and services you need. Learn about local movers.
Elsewhere in Alabama: Enterprise to Dothan, Montgomery, Birmingham, Mobile, Huntsville, or another Alabama destination is generally an intrastate move when the shipment stays inside Alabama. Learn about in-state movers.
Florida or Georgia — even when the mileage is relatively short: A move from Enterprise into another state is an interstate move. The legal classification depends on crossing the state line, not simply on how many miles the shipment travels.
Another state or cross-country: Enterprise to Florida, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, or any other state is an interstate move. Learn about interstate movers.
Outside the United States: International moves may involve inland transportation, export packing, freight forwarding, customs, ocean or air transportation, destination handling, and final delivery. Learn about international movers.
Moving Services Available in Enterprise
Not every Enterprise move requires the same type of provider. Choose the service based on what is being moved, how much work you want to handle yourself, and whether the move is residential, commercial, freight-oriented, or specialty.
Full-service moving: A moving crew handles loading, transportation, and unloading, with packing, unpacking, disassembly, reassembly, storage, and other services available depending on the company. Learn about full-service movers.
Residential moving: Household moves can include apartments, houses, condos, senior moves, storage-unit moves, local relocations, and long-distance household-goods transportation. Learn about residential movers.
Commercial moving: Offices, retail locations, warehouses, medical or professional offices, equipment, furniture, files, and other business relocations may require different scheduling, equipment, insurance, and handling than a household move. Learn about commercial movers.
Commercial freight & logistics: Some Enterprise-area providers focus on freight transportation, warehousing, distribution, full truckload or less-than-truckload shipments, and other business logistics rather than residential household moving. Make sure the provider’s services match what your business actually needs.
Self-service moving: You handle some or all of the loading while the company provides transportation equipment and transportation. Learn about self-service moving.
Labor-only moving: Moving labor can load or unload a rental truck, moving container, storage unit, trailer, or other equipment that you arrange separately. Learn about labor-only movers.
DIY truck rental: You rent and drive the truck yourself and can handle the labor yourself or hire loading and unloading help separately. Learn about truck rentals.
Specialty moving: Pianos, safes, antiques, artwork, oversized furniture, sensitive equipment, and other difficult items may require special equipment or experience. Learn about specialty movers.
Storage: If your pickup and delivery dates do not line up, ask whether the company offers storage-in-transit, short-term storage, long-term storage, or warehouse services and how storage charges, access, and redelivery are handled.
Vehicle transportation: If a car, motorcycle, or other vehicle also needs to move, ask whether the moving company handles vehicle transportation itself or coordinates it with a separate carrier, and get those terms in writing.
Enterprise Moving Company Licensing
The authority you should verify depends on where your move is going.
Moving within Alabama: If household goods are transported for compensation from one Alabama location to another, the mover generally needs the appropriate intrastate household-goods authority from the Alabama Public Service Commission (APSC). Regulated carriers must also maintain required insurance filings.
Examples include Enterprise → Dothan, Enterprise → Montgomery, Enterprise → Birmingham, Enterprise → Mobile, or Enterprise → another Alabama community.
Moving from Alabama to Florida, Georgia, or another state: Interstate household-goods movers and brokers operate under federal rules. Verify the company’s legal name, U.S. DOT information, operating status, and whether it is a carrier or broker through the appropriate federal records.
Do not assume that having a DOT number by itself means a company is authorized to transport household goods for your interstate move.
Moving Costs in Enterprise
There is no single meaningful average price for an Enterprise move. Moving a small apartment across town can require very different labor and equipment from moving a large house from Enterprise across Alabama, into Florida or Georgia, or across the country.
Distance and state lines: Local, intrastate, interstate, and international moves are priced differently. A nearby destination in another state is still an interstate move.
Shipment size: More furniture and boxes generally require more labor, space, and handling.
Moving date: Availability and demand can vary by season, weekend, and time of month. Military-reporting schedules, lease turnovers, and college-calendar dates can also concentrate demand for certain move dates.
Packing: Full or partial packing, boxes, specialty packing, and custom crating can change the quote.
Enterprise property access: Boll Weevil Circle traffic, service-road entrances, gated apartments, stairs, long carries, narrow or sloped driveways, rural approaches, truck-size limits, and restricted business entrances can affect the work required.
Military, storage and specialty needs: Fort Novosel access, storage, safes, pianos, antiques, artwork, oversized furniture, commercial kitchen equipment, machinery, and other difficult items can require additional planning or services.
Instead of relying on a generic citywide price range, compare written quotes based on approximately the same inventory, access conditions, and services. You can also review the factors that affect moving costs before comparing estimates.
Carrier or Broker: Know Who Will Handle Your Interstate Move
For a long-distance move from Enterprise, one of the most important distinctions is whether you are dealing with a carrier or a moving broker.
A carrier operates moving equipment and transports household goods.
A moving broker arranges transportation with a carrier rather than necessarily performing the physical move itself.
Neither business model is automatically the right choice for every move, but you should know which one you are dealing with before booking.
Ask:
Will your company physically transport my belongings?
If not, which carrier will perform the move?
Has that carrier already been assigned?
Who handles problems involving pickup, delivery, loss, damage, or claims?
Who receives my deposit and final payment?
The company name on a website, the company providing the estimate, and the company whose truck arrives in Enterprise are not always the same business.
What to Tell an Enterprise Mover Before Requesting a Quote
Giving every company the same information makes moving quotes easier to compare.
Move details: Pickup and delivery ZIP codes or addresses, preferred date or date range, home or property type, approximate move size, and whether storage is needed.
Property access: Floors, staircases, elevators, loading rules, distance from the truck to the entrance, driveway width or slope, gates, difficult turns, and restricted parking.
Inventory: Furniture, approximate number of boxes, large televisions, appliances, outdoor items, pianos, safes, artwork, antiques, mirrors, commercial equipment, or anything unusually heavy or fragile.
Services: Loading, transportation, unloading, packing, unpacking, furniture disassembly and reassembly, packing materials, crating, storage, and specialty-item handling.
Enterprise-specific access: If either address is along Boll Weevil Circle, in a gated apartment community, on a rural road, near Enterprise State Community College, or at a commercial property, give the mover the exact property name and ask about service roads, gates, parking, loading areas, stairs, elevators, truck-size limits, and permitted moving hours.
Military moves: If the destination is Fort Novosel, tell the mover before booking so both sides can confirm installation-entry requirements, vehicle access, and timing.
Use essentially the same inventory and service request with each company so you are comparing quotes on an apples-to-apples basis.
Questions to Ask Before a Local Enterprise Move
Before a local Enterprise move, ask a few practical questions so you know how the company will bill the job and whether common access issues can create extra charges.
Ask:
Where can the truck legally park at both addresses?
Is there a minimum number of hours?
When does billable time begin and end?
Is travel time charged?
Are stairs, elevators, or long carries additional?
Are furniture pads and basic protection materials included?
Is furniture disassembly and reassembly included?
Are packing materials included or charged separately?
What happens if the truck cannot get close to the property?
Could a smaller truck or shuttle be required?
Does the apartment, office, warehouse, or managed property require a move-in or delivery appointment?
Is a loading dock, service entrance, elevator reservation, or certificate of insurance required?
Are there restrictions on truck size, service-road access, gates, parking, or loading hours?
If the move involves Fort Novosel, what access information does the moving company need before arrival?
What is the cancellation or rescheduling policy?
For apartments, senior communities, offices, warehouses, and managed buildings, also ask the property manager whether movers must use a specific entrance or work only during certain hours.
How to Compare Moving Quotes
Do not compare only the number at the bottom of the estimate. First determine whether the companies are quoting the same shipment and services.
Company role: Carrier, broker, labor-only provider, container company, truck rental, or another type of provider.
Inventory: Confirm that each estimate includes approximately the same furniture, boxes, and specialty items.
Access: Make sure stairs, elevators, long carries, truck access, gates, parking, and shuttle needs are reflected.
Packing: Determine whether packing labor, boxes, materials, crating, and unpacking are included.
Pickup and delivery: Compare pickup dates or windows, expected delivery timing, and how schedule changes are handled.
Storage: Ask whether storage is included, where goods would be stored, and when additional charges begin.
Protection: Understand the mover’s liability or valuation options before selecting protection.
Payment: Review the deposit, remaining balance, accepted payment methods, and when each payment becomes due.
Changes: Ask how additional furniture, boxes, packing, storage, stairs, difficult access, or other added services can affect the amount you pay.
Protection, Damage & Claims
Protection for lost or damaged household goods is something to understand before moving day, especially for an interstate move.
For interstate household-goods moves: Federal rules require movers to offer two levels of mover liability: Full Value Protection and Released Value. These are levels of the mover’s liability and are not the same thing as a separate insurance policy.
Full Value Protection: The mover is responsible for the replacement value of lost or damaged goods, subject to the mover’s written terms, valuation amount, deductibles if offered, and rules for high-value items. Ask for the plan details and cost in writing.
Released Value: This option is provided at no additional charge but offers very limited protection—no more than 60 cents per pound per article. A 20-pound item would therefore have a maximum mover liability of $12 under Released Value, regardless of what the item originally cost.
High-value items: For interstate moves, items worth more than $100 per pound should be disclosed to the mover in writing as required by the mover’s high-value or extraordinary-value procedures. Ask how jewelry, antiques, artwork, electronics, collectibles, and other high-value items should be documented.
If something is lost or damaged: Inspect the shipment at delivery, photograph visible damage, keep the inventory and moving documents, and report problems promptly. For an interstate move, a written loss or damage claim generally must be filed with the mover within nine months after delivery.
For moves that stay within Alabama: State rules and the mover’s applicable terms can differ from federal interstate rules. Before booking, ask what liability or valuation options apply to your Alabama move, how damage should be documented, and exactly how and where a claim must be submitted.
Moving Internationally From Enterprise
An international move can involve several companies and stages rather than one truck traveling directly from Enterprise to the final destination.
Ask for a written breakdown covering pickup in Enterprise, export packing if required, inventory preparation, inland transportation, ocean or air transportation, port or terminal charges, customs-document responsibilities, destination handling, final delivery, unpacking if requested, storage if customs or delivery is delayed, and services specifically excluded from the quote.
If household goods are shipped internationally by ocean, determine which company is arranging the ocean transportation and verify the applicable Federal Maritime Commission licensing or registration where required.
Before packing, check the destination country’s current restrictions for medications, food, plants, alcohol, weapons, vehicles, electronics, wood products, and other regulated items. Import rules vary by country and can change.
Items Movers May Not Transport
Before you start packing, ask the company for its current prohibited and restricted items list. Policies can vary by mover, route, type of service, and destination.
Hazardous materials: Do not place dangerous or hazardous materials in household-goods boxes without discussing them with the mover. Examples can include gasoline, propane cylinders, lighter fluid, paint and paint thinner, fireworks, compressed gases, automotive chemicals, corrosive products, and other flammable or hazardous materials.
Perishable or restricted items: Movers may limit or refuse food, plants, temperature-sensitive products, liquids, or other items that can spoil, leak, attract pests, or create problems in storage or transit. Confirm the company’s policy before packing them.
Carry important items yourself: Keep medications, identification, passports, keys, cash, jewelry, important legal or financial documents, irreplaceable small valuables, and items you may need immediately with you rather than placing them in the moving shipment.
For international moves: The destination country can have additional restrictions on food, plants, medications, alcohol, weapons, vehicles, electronics, wood products, and other items. Check destination requirements before the shipment is packed or loaded.
If you are unsure about an item, show or describe it to the mover before moving day instead of assuming it can be loaded.
Moving Company Warning Signs
Take additional time to investigate a company if its identity, authority, estimate, payment request, or paperwork does not make sense.
Watch for:
A company that will not clearly identify its legal business name.
Uncertainty about whether you are dealing with a mover or broker.
No written estimate.
A quote prepared with very little information about the shipment.
Refusal to explain operating authority or insurance.
Pressure to book immediately.
Requests to sign blank or incomplete documents.
An inventory that omits major furniture or a substantial number of boxes.
Important promises made verbally but missing from the written agreement.
Unclear explanations of possible additional charges.
A different transporting company than you expected without a clear explanation.
Payment terms that change substantially from what you were originally told.
For interstate moves, do not sign an estimate, inventory, order for service, bill of lading, or other moving document until it accurately reflects what you agreed to.
Before Moving Day in Enterprise
Before the crew arrives, review the details that are easiest to fix in advance.
Confirm the final inventory: Tell the mover about anything added or removed after the estimate was prepared.
Confirm access: Verify parking, driveway conditions, gates, stairs, elevators, loading areas, service roads, building rules, and whether the truck can get close to both properties.
For Boll Weevil Circle or commercial properties: Confirm the correct driveway or service road, loading area, service entrance, and any restrictions on truck size or moving hours.
For rural or edge-of-city properties: Recheck narrow roads, gate widths, long driveways, soft shoulders, overhead branches, and turnaround space. If access is questionable, discuss it with the mover before the truck is dispatched.
For Fort Novosel: Confirm installation entry requirements, the destination address, reporting or check-in instructions, and whether the driver and crew need any documentation before approaching the gate.
Keep essentials with you: Carry identification, medications, important documents, keys, valuables, chargers, and anything you may need immediately.
Photograph important belongings: Take clear photographs of furniture, electronics, artwork, antiques, and other valuable possessions before loading.
Review the paperwork: Check names, addresses, dates, inventory, services, charges, and protection selections before signing. A moving checklist can also help you keep track of tasks before moving day.
At delivery: Use the inventory to account for the shipment, inspect furniture and boxes for visible damage, document problems, and keep contracts, inventories, receipts, and photographs if a claim becomes necessary.
Before You Book an Enterprise Mover
Before paying a deposit or signing a moving agreement, make sure you can answer these questions:
Is this company appropriately authorized for my type of move?
Am I hiring the actual carrier or a moving broker?
What exactly is included in my estimate?
What could cause the amount I pay to change?
Who will actually be responsible for transporting my belongings?
Does the written estimate reflect my actual inventory and Enterprise property-access conditions?
A company should make it possible for you to understand who is handling the move, what services are included, and what you are agreeing to before you book.
